Distress can be defined as bad or negative stress that induces a negative response and individuals experiences physical and psychological symptoms such as headaches, tension, and inattentiveness (Maketer, 2016). An example of the situation when an individual lost their loved ones or gets fired from the job induces distress response. An individual feel anxious, sad, and stressed out which affects the focus and attention and impairs the performance. In such a situation, the individual feels withdrawn and overwhelmed, and helpless because they found such a situation, not within their control or ability to fix or even change those.
